Rationale for Tefillah Curriculum
The goal of our Tefillah curriculum is to instill within our students the value of daily prayer. That Tefillah is an integral part of our Jewish life.
- Tefillah is a way to cultivate a personal relationship with Hashem.
- Tefillah is a time for personal introspection and reflection.
- Tefillah is a time to praise Hashem.
- Tefillah is a time to be thankful for the good in our life.
- Tefillah is a time to make requests for the future.
- Proficiency in Tefillah enables us to be active members in our community.
- Chazal tell us that the first general acknowledgment of Hashem’s kindness in granting us another day of life is the recitation of מוֹדֶה אֲנִי upon waking. Students should learn to feel that this is the opening of a new day ofעבודת השם in an age appropriate way.
- The בִּרְכוֹת הַשַּׁחַר are a further and detailed acknowledgment of what those kindness are.
